Cancellations and refunds
What happens to money when a shoot does not.
Before the advance is paid
Nothing has been charged and nothing is held. Either side can walk away with no cost. A payment request that is not paid simply lapses and releases the dates.
After the advance is paid
The advance is held rather than passed straight to the creator, so that neither side is out of pocket while the shoot is still ahead.
If the business cancels, the creator has turned down other work for those dates and is entitled to be considered for the advance. If the creator cancels, the advance is returned in full.
The exact split for a late cancellation is being written and will be published here before online payments open. Until then, no online payment is possible and nothing has been charged to anybody.
If something goes wrong
Raise a grievance. It is a real register with a reference number, an acknowledgement within 48 hours and an answer within 30 days — the timescales are enforced by the system, not by a promise.
Questions, or a complaint
Every one of these pages is answerable by a named person, not a form. Raise a grievance and it goes on a register with a reference number and a clock.
